Summary:
But, as she listened, she could hear a new sound... One she had never heard before. She could hear them through the curtain of rain and the booming thunder... She could hear bells.
Her skin was pale and her lips remained a blood red, from the lipstick so carefully applied. She was shivering, but she didn't notice. Her hair blew behind her like a stream of silk ribbons, brushing against the bare skin on her back. It was so cold, and she didn't even have a jacket. She could feel the wind blowing in between her legs, freezing her thighs and swaying her skirt...
She didn't care...
She just looked up at the sky, through her eyelashes, wet by small raindrops. Her make-up ran slightly, looking almost like darkened tears streaming down her face. Her eyes were dimly focused on the black clouds above her, hazy through the rainfall...
The Heavens were crying today...
Nothing could snap her out of her trance. She just stared at the sky, listening to the sound of raindrops. She could hear them hitting the hard concrete, the puddles of ice-cold water around her, which turned her feel blue... She could hear them hitting the metal roofs of the homes and buildings around them, the wood walkways and railings... She could hear them hitting the satellite dish near her and resounding with an echoic dripping.
But, as she listened, she could hear a new sound... One she had never heard before. She could hear them through the curtain of rain and the booming thunder...
She could hear bells.
A small tear fell, her not taking her eyes off the sky as she quietly sung, to the sound of the bells...
"...ki o tsukete..." she sung softly, eyes going to the ground as she slowly began walking.
"Kamisama wa miteru..." she sung, voice not getting any stronger. Her hope was so weak now...
"Kurai yomichi wa... Te o tsunaide kudasai..." she continued softly, looking back to the sky. A lightning strike whipped across the sky above her, hitting the lightning rod of a building near her.
"Hitori de tooku ni ite mo... Itsumo mitsukedashite kureru..." she continued, closing her eyes as she continued to walk dangerously close to the edge of the building.
"Shitteru koto wa zenbu oshiete kureru... Watashi ga oboete nakute mo... Nando demo ashiete kureru..." she sung, eyes opening slightly to peer down the edge of the building, at the brightly lit city below. The tears of the sky blurred her vision, the bright, colorful lights looking almost like stars in her sight. In those eyes of hers...
"Demo zenbu wakatte shimattara dou sureba ii no...?" she finished softly, a tear falling from her eyes and blending in with the rain as the wind blew it down the edge of the building. She tangled her blue fingers in the chain-link fence that blocked off the edge of the building from her steps.
She couldn't understand... She believed in her savior, in Kira, but nothing got better... It all got so much worse... There was fear everywhere and hate building. Obsession and blindness flowed through society now, and she just couldn't gather the strength to believe anymore...
She looked out at the horizon, not being able to distinguish it from the sky. She couldn't tell with the haze of rain blurring everything. The sky, the ground...
"Can you hear them?" a soft voice asked from behind Misa...
Misa blinked slowly, eyes turning to fall on the soaked form of L. His raven hair was drenched, falling over his eyes and face and sticking to his cheeks and neck. His worn-down clothes were wet, his thin shirt slightly transparent and his dark jeans hanging dangerously low on his boney hips.
Misa smiled slightly, eyes still sad and mourning the loss of all those people who died...
"The... bells?" she asked softly, L smiling slightly in return. His eyes held the same sadness. The sadness of one in mourning...
"Yes," he answered quietly, walking a bit closer so he could see what she was seeing. Misa blinked slowly once more, feeling the soaked material of L's shirt against her bare, pale blue arm. She could feel the cold skin of his chin rest on her shoulder, his wet hair sliding across her cheek and neck.
"Church bells..." she added in softly, blank eyes focused forward...
She could feel his arms wrapping around her thin waist. His piano-fingers held her hips lightly, his cold body pressed against her back. She could feel him nuzzle her neck lightly, barely feeling the water draining from her hair and onto their cold skin.
She then smiled slight. She could feel a slight warmth being created by their bodies pressed together so closely. It was starting to make everything feel better.
"...wedding bells..." she then decided softly, tilting her head and looking into L''s tired eyes.
He then smiled slightly, a bit of hope sparking up in his expression.
When their lips met, everything seemed to get warmer.
A step in the right direction... A step out of the rain...
A step towards the bells, which they both shared.

Authors Notes:
This story is basically about Misa's belief in Kira and her trust in L.
She's singing this song, translated above and available here:
http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=pUbgWPERxH
If that link doesn't work anymore, just look up "Misa Singing".
Yes, Misa is singing this, but her voice is weak because her faith is weak. Because she still sees such hate in the world still, despite the fact that Kira is getting rid of all the bad people, she's starting to doubt him. You can't fix the world with Death, you know... If people kill, then you kill, they kill again and you kill again. It's just a never ending cycle that will never stop...
And don't try to get into some argument with me. I'm not the all-knowing Misa with the power to fix the world with the clacking of her sparking red heels. So cram it.

There was another model at the agency who had just recently joined. He was English (from Britain, figure that) so he had English features. Features such as folds in his eyelids, much lighter hair, a more pronounced chin, a larger nose, and tanner skin. To hide these features so he looked at least slightly Japanese, he wore some sort of eye wear and had his hair (even his thin happy trail) dyed a fiery red.
He quickly became the most popular model with those punk clothes he wore and the cigarettes he smoked, everyone labeling him "The Bad Boy". He was, without a doubt, one of the most popular male models in Japan. And, because of his sky-rocketing popularity among teenage girls (and even boys), he was chosen to be paired up with the rather new but still very popular female model Misa-Misa for a Valentines Day photo shoot.
...
When the two models finally met (sure, they had heard of each other, but they had never met in person), they were being nudged onto the set with various make-up artists and dressers swarming about them and making last-minute adjustments.
"Hi!" Misa greeted with her normal enthusiasm, one of her clothing dressers adjusting her short white skirt.
She was dressed in all fluffy white Lolita clothes with ribbons and bows, giving her an almost angelic appearance. Especially with the medium-sized and extremely elaborate angel wings strapped onto her back, under her dress.
The red-haired model nodded to Misa, taking another drag off of his cigarette. He smoked some thin American Brand called 'Camel'. But, Misa wasn't good at reading English words, so she couldn't pronounce it. Whatever.
The male model standing in front of Matt, however, was dressed in all black and blood red, decorated in chains and piercings. They had even pierced his lower lip in a snake-bite fashion with two black loops with small, dull spikes on the ends. Misa twitched mentally, hoping they didn't hurt. Him or her. She had to kiss him, after all. But she didn't mind. He was cute and she was single.
"Misa-Misa has heard a lot about you, Matt-kun!" Misa complimented, one of her dressers making adjustments to her Lolita hairband. She then closed her eyes, allowing her make-up artist to more easily adjust her white make-up and bright blush.
Matt smiled behind his cigarette, one of his dressers snatching the half-finished cancer stick from his lips.
"Hey!" Matt whined, soon sighing and adjusting his red-tinted sunglasses. He soon turned back to Misa, a smile curving on his lips as he saw the girl.
"Yeah, me to. I'm actually... a bit of a fan of yours," Matt told, chuckling nervously and scratching the back of his head.
"Really!?!" Misa gasped, an exited smile on her lips as she bounced on her toes energetically. Misa was a relatively new model in the business. She had only started a few years back, and to be told that one of her fans was possibly the most popular male model in Tokyo made her pride swell.
Matt blushed slightly, it still evident from the much paler make-up they had on him. Of course, he had much more extra blush than normal, but that was fine. This was a Valentine's Photo shoot, after all.
"Yeah," he answered, soon smiling like a child in a candy-store as he was given a fresh cigarette, this one being a Japanese brand. He didn't care, though. He was such an addict.
"You're a lot nicer than Misa-Misa first thought," Misa told, giggling softly as she almost apologized to Matt. She, at first, thought that Matt was going to be a cruel, shovey person and would wind up trying to molest her or something. But, no. He was actually a really nice guy.
Matt chuckled deeply, taking a long drag off of his newly lit cigarette.
"I hope you don't mind cigarettes, Misa-chan," he told softly, smoke spilling from his lips and giving an interesting effect for the cameras. He took the cigarette from his lips, holding it carefully so he wouldn't singe Misa's hair and grabbing Misa's shoulders lightly. He pulled her close for the cameras, Misa smiling shyly and actually blushing deeply under the make-up. Surprisingly enough, she didn't mid the smokey taste of Matt's cigarettes at all.
...
In the Valentine's Day edition of their company's magazine...
They had been voted most popular for "Realism".

Period Cramps Suck

Summary:
"…Are you bleeding from the vagina, Misa-chan?" L asked, still sounding so oddly innocent, despite how disturbing his statement was.
Misa whimpered, curled up into a little ball on her silk-sheet laden bed. But, for some shitty reason, the feel of smooth fabric against her skin (barely covered by her nightshirt and underwear) didn’t help at all.
She cried softly, sniffing heavily every few moments and wincing at how much it hurt to do so. Just breathing hurt… So, instead of caring about what she looked like, she decided not to sniff anymore and spent more time trying to not think of the pain.
‘Happy things… think of happy thinks, Misa-chan…’ she chanted in her head unhappily, whimpering softly every time she breathed too deep or too quickly. It hurt so much and she couldn’t focus…
She resisted the urge to sob, knowing that it would only hurt more…
Period cramps suck…
…
L curiously watched the monitor that showed Misa’s bedroom. Normally, Misa would be up and about, exited as ever, doing something in her confinement to keep herself entertained. And she was quite good at that. Last week, she made new curtains for herself out of shirts and pants she didn’t want any more. Quite entertaining, oddly enough.
No, but instead of acting as she normally did, she had confined herself to her bed, wrapped up in silk sheets in the fetal position, her black blanket having been shoved off with her feet. Her body quivered every so often, but it was hard for L to see her face, due to the sheets. It took a bit of tinkering with the angels of the security cameras and the zoom option to actually discover that Misa…
Was crying.
L blinked in confusion, chewing on his fingernail with more focus than usual. He tilted his hand, instead going on to nibble at the flesh.
Why was Misa in such pain?
He blinked those wide eyes of his, watching Misa intently as he thought. His gaze soon shifted, however, to the brunette beside him.
Two nights ago, L had gotten a full night’s sleep (Matsuda was sick at home) and, as a direct consequence, had been full awake and active the next night, much to light’s distress. The darker-haired male had kept Light up the entire night, and he knew Light was feeling it today.
Light was flopped on the desk, drooling face planted on the keyboard of his laptop. And, by how many random letters had been repeated for the past few hours, L could easily deduce with a simple equation (taking in Light’s sleeping patterns and the amount of disturbances around [Matsuda was STILL sick]) that Light was going to be asleep for much longer.
So, L decided that it would be safe to leave light here as he went to check on Misa and solve his newest little mystery. He decided against taking light, because he knew that Light’s temper would get the better of him, and that even though he would be groggy, L would probably get a black eye and something broken.
So, as L unhooked the handcuff from his own wrist, he made sure to be quieter than usual. He hooked it onto his own chair, knowing that Light would have trouble getting around (even though the chances of him even getting up were less than four percent) with a rolling chair attached to him.
He made sure to grab his cup of tea on his way out of the main room and towards the elevator. He, however, didn’t take a drink yet, not wanting to have to stop to avoid spilling it.
When L arrived at Misa’s room, he didn’t knock. He never knocked. This building was basically his giant, over-sized, horizontally-challenged house, so he retained the right to barge into any room he pleased. He just unlocked the door with his card-key and entered.
Misa just looked over to L, not moving her head and barely opening her eyes. She didn’t even greet him. If she did move in any way, her spine would move, then her ribs would move, then her insides would move and then they would nudge her ovaries and BAM. Another burst of very unwanted pain.
She wanted to wipe her face, but she decided against it. Ryuuzaki/L always looked worse than her, so he probably wouldn’t care.
"Misa…" L started as he walked towards her, stopping next to her bed. He examined her face carefully, taking in every aspect he couldn’t, using the monitors and security cameras.
"You look gross," he suddenly declared, sticking out his tongue and furrowing his eyebrows in a disgusted gesture.
The death-glare Misa gave made L want to guard his crotch.
"erm… I-I mean… You don’t look so good, Misa-chan. Are you feeling well?" L quickly corrected, shifting uncomfortably and scooting away just a bit. He relaxed immensely when Misa stopped glaring at him to instead change her expression to a pained on.
"No… misa’s tummy hurts…" Misa told childishly, hating how nasally her voice sounded at the moment.
L paused for a moment, reaching his hand up to gently nibble on his sugar-sweetened thumb. He paused, looking up at the ceiling, then to Misa’s crumpled form, outlined by her silk sheets. His mind wandered for a moment, observing her curves and barely covered skin. He then blinked, eyes stopping on her stomach, which she was clutching unhappily.
"…Are you bleeding from the vagina, Misa-chan?" L asked, still sounding so oddly innocent, despite how disturbing his statement was.
Misa just stared…
L blinked, waiting for her answer. He, obviously, was not even slightly perturbed by his question and the situation in general.
""umm… y-yes… Misa answered softly, whimpering softly at the feeling of her own voice irritating her cramps once more.
L hummed softly as he thought, glancing down at his tea. He set the rim of the delicate China tea-sup against his lips and tilting it slightly to take a sip. He almost spilt it when he tasted it, it incredibly bitter. Well, to him it tasted incredibly bitter, anyways. He grimaced at the barely-sweetened liquid, resisting the urge to flee and find some muffin to wash down this gross taste… He then had an idea, watching the reddish liquid twirl slightly in the rounded cup.
"Trey this, Misa-chan." L told softly, leaning down even further to hold out the cup of warm red-raspberry tea to the blonde.
Misa examined the elaborately decorated cup suspiciously, too weak to raise an eyebrow or really protest at all.
"It will help with your pain," L explained, owlish eyes immediately noticing the look.
Misa whimpered loudly as she attempted to move to take the cup from Ryuuzaki, believing Ryuuzaki. Or at least hoping he was right. After all, he wouldn’t give her something that would hurt worse… right?
L frowned slightly as he observed her pain, holding the cup to her lips so she wouldn’t have to move much once more. He tilted it slightly when she looked ready, Misa drinking half of the small cup. He pulled it back, setting it on her dresser. She could have this cup of tea. Besides, it was too bitter for L.
He turned back to Misa when she pawed at his free hand, already dozing off as the pain started to fade. He smiled when he saw that the pain was starting to go away, and even blushed slightly when she clung to his long, piano-fingers with her much smaller digits.
"Thank you, Ryuu-kun…" She thanked happily, voice soft from sleepiness instead of pain. She was blushing vaguely, bright blue eyes hazy from the coming sleep...
L smiled, a bit of a blush spreading across his cheeks as well, creating an obvious contrast to his raven hair.
He leaned down even further, to Misa's low set bed, placing his other hand on the edge of the bed, coated in silk sheets. He relaxed slightly, feeling the material against his skin. It gave hi a bit more confidence to lean down and place a light kiss on Misa's forehead.
He pulled back, finding Misa had her eyes closed that her rosy lips, almost the color of her bright cheeks, were pulled into a cute smile.
"Sleep well, Misa-chan..." he told softly, brushing a bit of hair from her face before pulling away, Misa's delicate and soft fingers losing their grip on L's thin wrist as she fell asleep...
L made sure to turn off the lights as he exited, the door clicking shut behind him and beeping softly to indicate it had locked once more. He continued back upstairs, the light blush not fading from his cheeks.
...
Hours later, when L's gaze returned to Misa's monitor, he was happy to find that the lights were on and Misa was up and about, talking to a friend as she put together another outfit.
He was even happier to see that the delicate china cup was empty and was being used as a paper-weight for a sheet of paper with a large, red heart drawn onto it...

Summary:
He hoped that Light and Misa hadn't becoming the Kira's once more. He denied it, in his mind. They were supposed to be innocent... They were supposed to be human. People were supposed to be human.
When L first started the Kira case, he had the proper mentality for a detective of his caliber. Emotionless to the people involved with the case. Not making any attachments and only sacrificing what was needed. But L had a weakness for the innocent, like any human would. Innocent lives shouldn't be sacrificed to catch a criminal, no matter how extreme. It was just... wrong...
The deaths of innocent people that got in the way of Kira was actually the real reason he took this case so seriously. The unexplained deaths of the criminals caught his attention and expertise, but his effort had been caught by the deaths of all those people and Lind L. Taylor. Yes, the man was a criminal, but in the eyes of the uninformed world, he was an innocent live. So, by killing the L Stand-in, Kira showed that he had no problem killing an innocent person.
That was what made L put his effort into this.
L felt miserable for weeks after discovering the deaths of those FBI agents. He never got over that, the sacrifice having been the only one that extreme he had ever made in a case.
But this was the Kira case, so it was expected.
L was even ninety percent sure he would die on this case...
So, L trudged on through his case, making as little sacrifices as possible. Even the deaths of Raye Penber and Naomi Misora affected him greatly. Like they were really his fault...
When L first saw the picture of the teen known as Light Yagami, L knew that he was Kira. Everything fit so flawlessly, tied off with a bright red bow for the police and innocent lives around the world.
But no. For one, the people around him doubted him. It was unlike his to make assumptions. They needed hard evidence, even though the perpetrator was staring them in the face...
So, L put together an elaborate plan to catch light Yagami, even going as far as setting up security cameras and meeting him face to face...
It was when the Second Kira came around that L truly felt frightened and angry...
It was then that he truly knew that this case was going to kill him. He just had to leave enough for his successors to catch Kira after his death...
He even scrounged up enough evidence to have Misa, the Second Kira, put in confinement for L to gather even more evidence.
And after that, even Light gave a sort of confession and was put into confinement as well.
But something happened that L had never experienced before. When the two people, much younger than he himself, were confined, they were Kira's. Most defiantly.
But sometime during their confinement... they became innocent. Somehow, they were no longer Kira's. This was even proved later on, with the continued death of criminals and the stunt Soichiro pulled off quite well.
They, in L's mind, became innocent lives that he had to protect...
But, somewhere along the way, the deviant look of "I Know Something You Don't Know" appeared in both Light and Misa's eyes once more. They seemed to tease him with this fact, plotting out his inevitable death effortlessly... Misa teased him with fake love, her mischievous nature showing in her eyes. Even Light tempted him, holding L's inevitable demise above his head as if Mistletoe when they kissed...
And L knew that they were the Kira's once more.
The only reason he didn't arrest them then and there (especially with the overwhelming coincidences that could easily be considered facts right now) was that...
He had fallen for the two. Misa was beautiful and kind and Light was the only one who was his equal in terms of intelligence. He hoped that Light and Misa hadn't becoming the Kira's once more. He denied it, in his mind. He wanted the two innocent loves of his life to be human... The people he had fallen for were supposed to be human...
But as he died, he knew that he was wrong...
People aren't human.

She hated him so much. He locked up her and her boyfriend, Light, for reasons she couldn't understand after giving up ownership of her Death Note. He didn't feed her or give her water for days at a time, he only let her move to go to the bathroom, he pushed her to her limits...

God, she hated that man. The man with wide eyes and poor posture. The man with an obsession for sweets who held things oddly. The man crouched rather than sat and never slept. The man with ragged nails and a tall, lean body. The man with smooth, pale skin as light as the moon and rough raven hair. The bare-foot angel with a soft touch and fragile, broken lips.
Misa hated L Lawliet the pervert...

L wanted Misa.
He wanted her more than anything he had even known in his life.
She was beautiful like nothing else, shining brighter than the star she quested to become in the worlds almighty eyes and judgement. She wasn't a genius, but she was clever. She had quite a large assortment of toys in her bag of tricks. She knew her way through the little nooks and crannies of the world, knowing just where to go for what she needed. She was a trickster, hiding what she truly was from the world: her mischievous nature rarely shown in those pretty blue eyes of hers...
She was all L wanted, wrapped up in a pretty blonde bow.
But she would never want him. She was in love with Light, his enemy... His first friend...
L felt betrayed, but he knew it had nothing to do with him. It was all Light and Misa's doings. They wanted each other, and he had no part in such affairs...
But when he heard Light cared nothing for Misa, he wished he had solid evidence on Light more than anything. He wanted to lock him away forever, in an attempt to protect Misa.
How DARE he mock his angel, calling her such names out of irritation! How could he be so cruel to someone who loved him, who adored him so? It hurt his stomach to think of such things.
L thought back now, remembering when he had first met Misa. Sure, he had heard of her, and he had always been his favorite female model, but to meet her in person was like a fanboy's dream coming true.
Well, 'till it shattered around him.
For now, however, he just cherished the light touches and contact he received from her. She just declared him a pervert whenever he tried to get close, his heart breaking when she clung to Light so happily, despite his hate for her...
He wanted to whisk her away to where they could be happy together, but he knew that was entirely out of question. It was based on no form of logic whatsoever. She even seemed creeped out by him when he told her that he could fall for her. Of course, he already had, but he didn't need them knowing of such a weakness.
Not only was it illogical, it was irresponsible. Misa was supposed to be The Second Kira. She could kill anyone with just their face, and letting them know of his weakness would only give them yet another advantage over him.
When had he become so weak?
Sometimes, however, he decided to ignore logic, spoiling her in her new confinement at the Headquarters and giving subtle signs of his love for her. But, he had a sharp mind and knew she wanted nothing to do with him. He, however, couldn't help but hope that was untrue, especially when she teased him with a kiss to his cheek...
She was the trickster, and L could see her mischievous nature shining in her eyes. And as she turned to Light, he couldn't help but want her even more...

L was dying... L was dying and Light was faking his concern now, holding L's dying body in his arms...

The first time L had even met light, he was Kira. No one else, just a mass murderer that L had to stop...
But after Light's confinement, sometime after a few days...
Light was no longer Kira. He was a beautiful teenage boy working hard to stop Kira, who he refused to admit was himself, despite the overwhelming evidence. Sure, it could all be considered coincidence... But so many coincidences turned into facts. Light had been Kira, and there was no denying that...
But Light had no longer been Kira and L had wanted nothing but to save the two people he had fallen in love with to be safe from such a menace...
L was easily able to see that Light's and Misa's deaths were insured now. They would be dead soon enough. Near, Mello and Matt would stop Light now. They were ruthless. They would do nothing to try and save the lives of Light and Misa. No, now that he was dead, those two had nothing to protect themselves in the world. Now that he was gone...
They were dead...
Light would be dead soon enough. The three young boys would easily figure out Light was Kira. It would be nothing on their part. They would just continue where L left off.
Light, the young genius who took his death from Ryuk in the form of a black notebook that reeked of sulfur and death. He could have had so much for his life... Wonders that he would never see, now that he had taken on the weight of the world...
Misa... She was so beautiful. She was becoming a star for the world. She was the focus of everyone... She was the most beautiful person L had ever met... But after meeting Kira... She was ruined. She accepted her death as well. She was dead to...
They were both gone, now that L was gone. They wouldn't realize it till their own deaths, but L had actually been the one saving them. After their confinement, L had been trying to only protect them.
But no...
L had never been in love before. He never had a girlfriend or a boyfriend. Light and Misa were the only ones he let close. The only ones he would truely admit that he had loved... But everything was falling apart now and getting blurry and he couldn't focus clearly enough to tell anyone that...
L felt guilt overwhelm him as he saw that smile, having known for quite a while that Light had become Kira once more. He just didn't want to admit that Light had. He didn't want to admit that his two loves were killers again. He didn't want to admit that he was weak for them...
'Just a few more moments... with them both... just to say... just...'
It was futile now... Rem had killed him and he had to leave. He couldn't tell Light and Misa that he loved them... He couldn't... he couldn't...
As he closed his eyes, everything went completely dark. He couldn't feel Light's hands, he couldn't hear the teens faked scream...
All he could feel was regret... The regret that he was never able to tell them he loved them...

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Light had done it. Light had finally killed L...
It took massive amounts of planning on his behalf and even the sacrifice of Rem... He just had to convince her that Misa was in danger and she sacrificed herself for her. Light had easily been able to figure out that Misa would have been fine in this situation if Rem remained around. In fact, Misa's death was insured, now that Rem was gone.
But none of that mattered, because now L was falling to the floor and Light needed to act...
It was rather quick. So quiet it was almost frightening. It was pure silence, Light only being able to feel L's heartbeat fading under the fingers that supported L's neck...
His death was quick. Now he just layed in Light's arms, Light screaming and panicking.
But now Light had to carry L to the ambulance because they were here now but they couldn't get in...
Light lifted the man, surprised to find him very light. Light looked down, seeing L's ribs and hips outlines through his thin shirt. He could see a peek of pale and paling skin through where L's shirt had been pulled up slightly.
His eyes were wide as he observed L's corpse, having never found him so...
Human.
He still smelt like cinnamon, the smell of death having not come in yet. His eyes were closed and he wasn't breathing, and Light couldn't feel any movement under his hands. It felt odd to carry L now. It was like he was handling a stubborn, rolled-up carpet now. His limbs dangled freely, not obeying pain-sensors when they bent to far. Light actually heard a sickening crack from one of his fingers as he rushed him downstairs. The chain had caught one of his fingers and had broken it on the way down...
It was frightening now. Light found himself sitting in the elevator with L in his lap, leaning against his chest. He could feel L's nose against his neck, but he could feel no warm breath...
"Don't worry, Ryuzaki... It'll be fine soon..." he muttered softly to the corpse, wide eyes focused on L's hand, which he held in his own. He was starting to feel cold now.
"Too cold..." he muttered, rubbing L's hand in between his own quickly, in an attempt to warm it. As he did, however, he felt no heartbeat in L's wrist...
His breath caught in his throat, him searching for that soft beating. He pulled up L's sleeve and his handcuff. He frantically searched for the spot, even though he knew somewhere in his mind that L was gone now...
He panted softly, reaching up to L's head to place his fingers on L's neck, where you could definitely find a heartbeat.
Nothing...
L's skin was getting colder now and Light didn't even notice that the elevator had stopped and closed again.
"Ryuzaki... L..." he muttered softly, eyes focused intently on L's closed lids.
"Wake up, now... C'mon..." he begged softly, feeling such a panic and sadness overwhelming him. He shook the man lightly, feeling the crook of L's nose press up against where Light's shoulder and neck met. He supported L's back with his other hand, leaning it back slightly so L leaned back. He wanted to see his wide-eyed
There was no support in L's body, now. He didn't hold himself up in that curled position of his, but instead laid down across Light's lap limply. His head fell back, Light feeling L's hair against his fingers...
He panted softly, starting to feel dizzy as he watched L for a few more moments. The world was hazy and spinning now, like the background on a merry-go-round. He was starting to feel nauseous and his body was shaking...
He didn't even snap out of it when Matsuda opened the elevator and took L with him, to the waiting ambulance. Not even when his father eased him up, getting him in his own car so they could go to the hospital as well.
The only time he truly understood what had happened was at L's unmarked grave...
As he cried, it started raining...

Peace, Love and Happiness

music: "Come Together" by The Beatles
These great people, who are willing to put themselves out in the world in hopes of overcoming animalistic tendencies, are often killed by said tendencies. They are murdered cruelly, and for seemingly no reason. No logical reason, rather.
Don’t kill me, just because I want happiness for others as well as myself; for people to live in peace with one another, rather than against one another. For all people to be at peace with one another and contribute to one another, for the happiness and well being of the world. For people to put down their pride and their greed, just to help one another.
Don’t end my life, just because I love those around me.
Love me.
I’ll love you.
